Travel the globe and you’ll discover that Bavarian culture is celebrated in cities as far-flung as London, Milan and New York, with stylish establishments serving up Pure Bier and fine Bavarian food.
Not wanting Australia to miss out, the first Bavarian Bier Café was launched in July 2005, with York Street opening in the heart of Sydney’s CBD to provide the perfect meeting spot for long business lunches, post-work drinks or a relaxing dinner at the end of a busy day.
The popularity of York Street saw a more rustic Bavarian Bier Café open at Manly Wharf in the following months. With its spectacular location and sunny bier garden, this venue quickly became a hotspot for special events and chilled weekends spent enjoying a stein or two with friends while soaking up the sunshine.
Next up was Entertainment Quarter, which commenced trading in December 2007 and was instantly embraced by the wide mix of Sydneysiders who make their way to this buzzy precinct each day.
With the city’s Bavarian needs covered, it was soon time to take the best to the west. Parramatta opened in June 2008 and offered capacity for over 700 people, making it ideal for celebratory events of all shapes and sizes.
Then, in June 2009, the Bavarian opened at one of the world’s most iconic spots – Bondi Beach – allowing patrons the chance to call by for refreshments and refuelling after catching a wave or two.
The following year it was time to give the North Shore a taste of something new, with Chatswood emerging as a true ‘local’ by attracting a loyal fan base.
In November 2010, Bavarian Bier Café ventured interstate and setting up on the shores of the Brisbane River at iconic site Eagle Street Pier. Locals quickly converted this spacious spot overlooking the river into a post-work and weekend retreat.
In 2011, we saw a new venue added to the group. Our friends on the Gold Coast celebrated the opening of Broadbeach, perfectly positioned within the Oracle development site.
September 2015 saw the taste of Bavaria go to the South of Sydney on the rooftop of Westfield Miranda shopping centre offering up abundant indoor seating, a spacious terrace area and a large bar – not to mention a rooftop view that takes your breath away!
At Bavarian Bier Café, we’ll welcome you with a smile to make sure you feel right at home – whether that home is around the corner or across the globe. So get yourself into your local to experience our mantra – that style is nothing without substance, real quality trumps flashy presentation and fare is more important than the fanfare. Leave the overcrowded and overhyped venues to the sidelines, and raise a satisfying stein to your next Bavarian night out.
